[9-30-01  Brodhead, Wisconsin; 7-17-17 Chicago, Illinois]

Buried: Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, Wisconsin

Walter Marty, Aged 15, Dies Following 3 Months' Illness
reprinted from
Unknown Newspaper (Probably, The Monroe Evening Times)

Walter L. Marty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marty, of Chicago, passed away yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock.  He had been suffering from Bright's disease and dropsy for three months, but his death comes as a shock, for he seemed to be improving the past two weeks.  Mr. and Mrs. Marty were residents of Monroe a number of years ago when he was connected with the Green County Herald.

He was born at Brodhead on Sept. 30, 1901 and about twelve years ago moved to Chicago with his parents.  During his several visits here he has made many friends who with a large group of relatives will mourn his death.  He was always interested in his studies and was a bright student being a junior in the high school.

Besides his father and mother, he leaves two brothers, Carl Jr., and Robert and one sister, Kathryn (sic), of Chicago, and three half sisters, Mrs. Frank German (sic) of Decorah, Ia., and Misses Grace and Edna Jones of Chicago.

Services will be held at the home in Chicago this evening at 8 o'clock by Rev. R. A. John.  The body will be brought here tomorrow noon and will be taken directly to St. John's Evangelical church, where services will be held at 2:30 by Rev. P. A. Schuh.  (Website's Editor's Note: Rev. P.A. Schuh married Carl and Verena Marty 12-16-1897.)  Burial will take place in Greenwood.
