Is your Family Tree Correct?
See:  www.2-CQ.name/Marty/Tree

The cheese box as pictured is not the Kubly/Swiss Colony box that I thought it was.  Your box is much older.  I would think it would have some value in one of the Wisconsin historical museums.  My guess is that it is the late '20s because of the company and brand name; however, my belief has been they only made processed American cheese during World War II; obviously, I'm wrong somewhere.  It may be that they distributed it around World War I ??

Whatever, It is unbelievable that this box would survive in Ohio and come to your attention the way it did; then, lead you to a Fitz-Gibbon. (Haven't quite figured out who Hethe Ferguson is.)  (4:30am: I figured out who Heather Joy Ferguson is.  Does she live in Put-in-Bay ??)

I'll be working on all your photos most of today; need some sleep now.  It is almost 2:30am.

Still delivery problem from me.  I am receiving you (2 E-mails) lots of photos).

Received E-mail.  Photos and info are great.  They will be posted soon.  Your family is a pleasurable “find” for us.  If you don’t mind, I’ll be writing a comment on the “box.” The story starts in the 1920s with my mother and Ray Kubly.  Of course, I’ll let you edit it for accuracy from your end.  I find the story quite amazing as it starts with Ray, whose son bought the painting and was one of my closest boyhood friends in Monroe; then, it continues to Lake Erie, close to where I lived when not in Wisconsin; then, to our meeting with you in Idaho and Jane and I in opposite ends of California.  (The Marty’s were always great travelers . . . quite often to Europe.  You seem to be true to your genes!

I won’t post this on the site if it goes thru.

 (It didn't.)

Nice talking with you today.  Type is large because my eyes don't work too well.  Hopefully, cataract surgery will soon help.  Below is what I have in our correspondence.  Until your E-mail is working, I will acknowledge each message I receive here.  Please check this site for my messages.

I notice that you have little or no information about the Jacob Marty, Jr. branch of the Marty family.  He was my great-grandfather and I have information (names, dates, etc) that my grandmother gave me before her death. I also have a bad photocopy of a drawing of the Marty (Marti) coat of arms done by Carl Marty, Sr., along with an explanation of the symbols that he wrote.

Would you be interested in this info, and how do I get it to you?

Nancy Marty Lewis

Kamiah, Idaho

Yes, yes, and yes again!  I am so pleased you wrote.  You are right, I am lacking lots of Marty info; even though, I lived for some 20 summers with Carl Sr, and Robt. F. Marty.  Other than my mother’s photos  and some of Carl’s incomplete writings, I have little.  I’ve been searching the internet and working on cemetery records, which is slow going.  I’m sure the Marty “Tree” is full of error.

Jacob Jr. branch is of much interest; and, I have next to nothing; though, I remember the name well from my youth in the early ‘40s.

I must leave now.  Don’t go away.  I’ll write more detail tonight.  You can find me by clicking on Carl Marty, Sr.; then Katherine Marty.

Hello,

Is this the address for the person who left the message on my phone machine?  The message was a little garbled and I am not sure that I got the address correct.  I will also try going back to the website.  I am sorry that the email did not work; we have had virus problems.

Please write me back or call (208)935-0812.

Nancy (Marty) Lewis

Hello,

I was contacted by phone by a Jane McKenna(sp?), but her email address was garbled on the message machine, so I am writing back to you.  She said that you had not been able to get to my email.  I am so sorry-we have had virus problems.  Hopefully, our problems are corrected and you will be able to reply to me now.  I would be glad to give you information.  My grandmother wrote much down before she passed away in 2001 (age 97).
