        Mrs. John W. Yost Dead

Verna Esley was born in Switzerland August 15, 1839, and died at the home of her daughter three miles north of Nodaway (Missouri), Thursday night, January 13, 1908, at the age of 68 years and 5 months.  She was married to John W. Yost in 1863 and came to this country in 1875.  to their union were born nine children, two dying in infancy-- her husband having died March 4, 1900.  Besides her seven children, she left 16 grandchildren and other relatives.  Mrs. Yost has been in poor health for some time.  The children who survive her are Mrs. I. M. Wright, Mrs. A. Ueliger, Mrs. A. Arn, Miss Ida Yost, Charlie Yost, Mrs. O. C. Schopfer, of St. Louis, and Fred Yost, of Modoc, Ks.

        On Saturday, January 18, a large concourse of friends followed the remains to Amazonia, where the body was laid to rest in the German Reformed Cemetery.  She was a member of the German Reform Church.
