Marie K. Scanlan

Marie K. (Kelly) Scanlan, a long-time resident of Marstons Mills, MA, formerly of Mashpee, Framingham and Reading, MA, passed away on September 6, 2008 at the age of 82. She was the daughter of Matthew and Olivine Kelly of Glens Falls, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of forty-two years Thomas M. Scanlan.

Marie is survived by five children, Susan (Joseph) Samson of Vero Beach, FL and their sons Andrew and Timothy Samson; Cynthia Scanlan of Osterville, MA; Katherine Scanlan of Thomaston, ME; Thomas M. Scanlan (Kristin) of Somerville, MA; and Mark (Wendy Hyma) Scanlan of Lancaster, MA and their sons Luke and Blake. She is also survived by two sisters Claire Cifone of Queensbury, NY and Patricia Rozelle of Fort Edward, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Marie worked as an administrative assistant at Puritan Clothing in Hyannis, MA for several years prior to her retirement. Always active, Marie was known as a prolific gardener, wonderful cook, avid beachgoer and loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a communicant at Our Lady of Victory in Centerville, MA.

Friends may call at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. At Rt. 151 Mashpee 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday September 9, 2008. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Patrick’s Church, 511Main St. in Falmouth, MA at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 10, 2008. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
