| Walter died of "dropsy,"
probably kidney failure in today's vernacular, before his sixteenth
birthday. Walter was a brilliant student. He pioneered with the emerging technology of radio at a young age. Walter built his own radio equipment when radios were still experimental. His radios were so sophisticated that the military sealed all of his equipment during World War I. He died before the government allowed him to use the sealed equipment, which still remained sealed, in the attic of his parent's home, throughout World War II. "Mike" Marty was given the sealed radio. When he opened the sealed radio he was astounded with Walter's genius as a very young teenager before much was understood about radio technology.. Walter was greatly admired by all those that knew him. |
